Day 1: Arrive Kampala

Clients flying into Eentebbe Airport early today we will pickup you with our private transfer to Kampala at Serena Hotel or Cassia Lodge where the rest of the day is at leisure. We stay at the Kampala Serena Hotel, which is beautifully situated in Kampala; Kampala Serena Hotel is close to Kibuli Mosque, Makerere University, and Kabaka’s Palace. Also nearby are Namirembe Cathedral and Rubaga Cathedral. And is a perfect place to prepare for your adventure. You will meet your guide in Kampala Serena Hotel this evening for safari pre- briefing and equipment check.

Day 2: Entebbe – Kampala City tour

to day we have another opportunity to visit some of the interesting places in Kampala. These include the Buganda trail, religious sites, historical stores, like Kasubi Tombs, Kabaka’s Lake, Bulange palace, Katereke ditch, Nagaalabi coronation site, Wamala Tombs, Namirembe Cathedral, Lubaga cathedral, Bahai temple, Namugongo shrines, Uganda museum, Makerere art gallery and much more respectively. Meal plan: Half-Board.

Day 3: Kampala – Kibale National Park

Our safari guide will pick you from your hotel of residence and transfer to Fort portal. This scenic drive takes approximately 5 hours arriving in the afternoon. You will stop over in Fort portal town for lunch before driving to Ndali Lodge/ Rwenzori View Guest House where you will stay prior to your chimpanzee tracking tomorrow. After checking in, you will go for a guided walk in Bigodi Swamp to look for different bird species like the Shining Blue Kingfisher, Blue Throated Roller and other rare species and also find the fruiting trees, which attract Narina Trogon, Pied Hornbill, Yellow Spotted, Hairy Breasted and Yellow-Billed Barbets. Dinner and Overnight at Ndali Lodge or Rwenzori View Guest House, Kanyankyu Ecological site. Meal plan: Full-Board.

Day 4: Kibale forest.

A relatively early morning start, to report to the ranger station in Kibale National Park at 07.00am to track habituated chimps – these delightful apes, more closely related to humans than to any other living creature, are tremendous fun to watch as they squabble and play in fruiting trees. The incredibly diverse forest is home to over 13 species of primates including red Columbus monkey, the rare L’Hoest, blue monkey, grey mangabey, pottos, black faced vervet monkeys, baboons and also bush babies. A network of shady forest trails provides much to delight botanists and butterfly lovers, while birders are in for a treat with 335 species recorded including the endemic Prigogine’s ground thrush. The elusive forest elephant, smaller and hairier that its savannah counterpart, moves seasonally into the developed part of the park, while other terrestrial mammals include buffalo, giant forest hog and a half dozen antelope species. Return to lodge for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: Full-Board.

Day 5: Kibale-Queen.

After a morning breakfast, we will depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park. We will enter the park via the Northern crater Area. With beautiful lakes and rich grasslands which are set deep in the crater valley, this is truly the most breathtaking scenery in the park. Queen Elizabeth is host to a large variety and volume of wildlife. It boasts one o the highest bio diversity ratings of any game park in the world, from the open Savannah to Rain forest, dense swamps and beautiful crater lakes to the vastness of Lake Edward. Almost 100 species that include Hippos, Lions, Buffaloes, Leopard, Spotted Hyena and the elusive giant forest hog. There are over 606 species of birds found here including the martial eagle, black-rumped buttonquail, Verreaux’s eagle owl and African skimmer to name but a few. The primates include Chimps, Black and white Columbus Monkeys, Blue, Black Faced Red Columbus, and Red Tailed monkeys and Olive Baboons. Relax after lunch and later go for an evening game drive. Dinner and Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge or Katara lodge, Simba safari camp or Ihamba safari lodge. Meal plan: Full-Board.

Day 6: Queen.

This morning we leave for the 08.00am chimp trek in Kyambura Gorge. These delightful apes, more closely related to humans than to any other living creature, are tremendous fun to watch as they squabble and play in fruiting trees. We will return to the lodge for lunch and a chance to relax by the swimming pool. In the afternoon a boat trip along the Kazinga Channel gives you the opportunity to view wildlife up close: hippo’s huff and spray mere feet away from the boat, buffalo linger in the shallows. The shores of the channel are also home to an array of birds including pink backed pelicans, pied and malachite kingfishers, saddle billed stork and many others. After this wonderful afternoon, a slow drive back to Lodge. Return to lodge for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: Full-Board.

Day 7: Queen – Bwindi National Park

This morning, embark our safari van and depart to Bwindi Forest a home to half population of Africa mountain gorillas. Drive through the southern Ishasha sector. En-route lunch by the Ishasha River and try to spot famed Ishasha tree-climbing lions. Bird life and other primate life in Bwindi are quite superb, and there is an incredible variety of flora. Bwindi is the Bird watchers heaven! It holds 348 species of birds and supports 24 of 26 Albertine Rift Endemics that occur in Uganda; and seven red data book species. Once continuous with the forests of the Virunga Volcanoes (Dian Fossey’s stomping ground), Bwindi is now an ecological island, surrounded by cultivation on the rich volcanic soils. Dinner and Overnight at Gorilla Resort, Gorilla forest camp, Mahogany springs, Engagi lodge or Buhoma Community Bandas. Meal plan: Full-Board.

Day 8: Bwindi National Park.

Early morning cup of coffee, then prepare for the briefing from the Uganda wildlife officials and thereafter enter into the jungle to search the shy mountain gorillas and enjoy their life style in their real home. After meeting the gorillas, you can sit around these great apes for a whole hour gazing into their big round eyes. On a gorilla safari, a reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as walking shoes, packed food and mineral water, insect repellent, sun screen and hut. The gorilla tracking experience takes half or whole day depending on the movement of these primates. After this experience you will have informative memorable experience in life. Return to lodge for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: Full-Board.

Day 9: Bwindi – Kampala

Early morning breakfast, after take short tour around the accommodation facilities and take some photos of interest. Thereafter embark our safari vehicle back to Kampala with lunch en- route to Entebbe international airport to board your home flight to Zanzibar – Half Board.

Upon arrival in Zanzibar you will be met and transferred to a hotel for overnight.

Day 10 to 13: Explore Zanzibar

Day 2 Tour in Stone town.

your program starts with a morning visit by walk on our Historical Stone Town Tour. This tour takes you through fabled Stone Town, where history appears to stand still. With visits to the House of Wonders, the Palace Museum (People’s Palace) and the Arab Fort amongst others,

it is a fascinating look at the essence of Zanzibar. You will see Zanzibar’s bustling market, winding alleyways, ornately carved and studded doors, two cathedrals and countless mosques! Dinner and overnight stay at Swahili House in Stone town.

Day 3 Spice tour & Jozani Forest.

Today you go on an excursion to the spice and fruit plantations close to Stone town for the famous Spice Tour. We have developed a special Spice Tour with in depth information not only about spices, but also organically grown herbs and a detailed description about their traditional uses in medicine cosmetics and cooking. After the tour we invite for an opulent lunch at our guides’ home, where you can taste the spices and fruits. After lunch we take you to your beach resort. On the way you pass Jozani Forest, the last habitat of the rare endemic Red Colobus Monkey. With a local guide you stroll through Jozani Chwaka National Park and look at the rare monkeys. If you wish you can even wander down the boardwalk to the fascinating Mangrove Ecosystem.

Day 5 Jambiani Village Tour.

In the morning you drive along the coast. Passing the fishing villages of Bwejuu and Paje you reach Jambiani, a fishermen village on the East coast of Zanzibar. We offer a cultural village tour to visit villagers working in different professions. Our guide tells about the history of the village, you will visit a traditional herbalist, who will show you the local medicines, herbs and their uses, a visit to a local organically plantation on coral stone, where farmers cultivate under difficult circumstances, and seaweed farms run by woman. A good chance to learn about the unique culture and the diverse environment of Zanzibar’s villages and to meet the friendly Waswahili people. We will show you real life, not images designed for tourists.

Day 6 Dolphin Trip.

One day you go to an excursion to Kizimkazi. Situated on the southern point of the island, Kizimkazi fishing village is home to several schools of bottle-nosed dolphins and Humpback dolphins, which can often be sighted following a short boat trip from the village. If you are lucky, you may be able to swim quite close to the dolphins, which can be a very rewarding experience. We are doing this trip in the afternoon to avoid the crowds of tourists in the morning, which in big numbers disturbing the dolphins.

Day 7 Departing day.

Depending on your flight schedule and departure point you will be transferred to the Zanzibar Airport to take a flight back home. If you are flying out of Dar es Salaam or Nairobi, we will arrange a connection flight for you to catch your flight back home.

Transfer to Nungwi, northern Zanzibar, spend the entire day relaxing, sunbathe and swimming at the hotel; or strolling along the unspoiled beach of Ras Nungwi, otherwise walking to the nearby coral reef lagoon. Enjoy sumptuous seafood buffets and spicy island fare for lunch & dinner. The cathedral signifies a potent time in Zanzibar’s history and stands on the sight of a past slave market, its high altar standing on the exact site of the whipping post. Slavery was abolished in 1873 through a decree passed by the then current Sultan of Zanzibar. From here we visit the residence of the late Sultans of Zanzibar, ‘Tip Tip House’, the Old Fort, ‘Peoples Palace’ and the House of Wonders’, full of intrigue and vivid history from a bygone era. The tour ends with a stroll through the narrow streets of the old stone town, the heart of Zanzibar’s vivacious history with time for shopping. Lunch at a local restaurant. 1500hrs, boat trip to Prison Island, the former prison for slaves and quarantine station for Zanzibar, is an absolute worthwhile experience.
